This was an amazing email to wake up to this morning
I got the email this morning from Karmin in Poland, it was so awesome I had to post it here.
”
Salut,
Seeing how TLFI has evolved since the very beggining of the brand (ie. when famosi hollywood youngsters, rock stars, artists (…) didn’t wear it, except for a few guys), I couldn’t summarize it without a bunch of deserved superlative accolades.
‘Back then’ when it was introduced solely as a special, distinctive brand, but not much was revealed about its message, unique design ideas, the whole story behind it - aside from occasional abberviated interviews or notes popping on various blogs from time to time. In my eyes, meaning in the eyes of a young, aspiring student, sharing a fashion and design indulgence, TLFI seemed phenomenal at first glance, because in its entirety, the factors / values combined and transitioned into clothing are, to me, the main determinants of a perfect brand. However, I don’t wish to sound like like a guy who glorifies everything ya’ll create, I just want to express my admiration for your work.
I’ve read almost every online interview with ya’ll and checked out most of the reports / notes on TLFI every since they appeared on the net. Surprisingly, I even bumped into a short interview on my e-friend’s site VIVELASTREET.com (Elio from the UK) and even though he’s a messy journalist, the message of that publication was clear: you don’t ignore even a common, non-influential guy (in terms of promoting the brand) and even more - ya’ll sent him a bunch of free TLFI tees! At this point, I have to admit that I currently own ONLY two TLFI products: Late Night Robbery Reversible Hoodie and Badhanded Reversible Hoody, both of which took 3 months+ of putting cash aside, otherwise there was no way I could buy them. I’d love to own a few tees but my finances won’t let me buy them, unfortunately.
Now, a few words on your products: over-designed is not a negative term in TLFI’s case, it’s rather a compliment in spades - these items would lose their souls without specific meticulous details.
It’s difficult for me to choose concrete products from each season - I’d wear the majority of them, as I simply adore hand drawn, superior quality stuff, especially if it impels almost every passer-by to stop and think about the background, the meaning of an artwork.
TLFI, from the start, wasn’t a re-edition of something, a ripoff, it didn’t even resemble any of the already known brands in this category. By utilising provocative design and putting hundreds of hours of work into each one, every single piece can be perceived as a masterpiece, or at least a unique one. These things force some of the customers to change their perception, they imply conscious reception of the content, they’re somewhat an eye-opener.
Such mixture of variables, without a doubt, is a gateway to success, it alludes to a new streetwear dep., and fortunately - TLFI’s style is not simple enough to get duplicated.
